Garlic Franks and Napa Slaw

Years ago, we got wonderful garlic metts from the old Kroger's in Findlay Market, but they were seasonal at best, and the new Kroger's hasn't carried them for a long time.  The closest equivalent is the garlic franks from Eckerlin's, bulky hot dogs that look like what Barbara's father used to call "specials."
To go with, we made a batch of Kathy's Napa cabbage slaw.  Not traditional, which would be sauerkraut, but we love that tangy blue cheese flavor.
