Thursday 23 August
We ran into Liz on our way home,
and happily hijacked her to come with us and have a glass of wine. She actually had some baba ghanouj and pita
with her, so appetizers were no problem, while we threw in some red pepper hummus, assorted olives, and sungold tomatoes from the garden.
We gradually segued from
appetizers into dinner. After a quick
recce in the pantry, we gathered up the ingredients for pasta puttanesca, a recipe that is one of Italy's
easiest and most satisfying (and so was the whore who invented it).
And behold! There was even a half watermelon for dessert. Spur of the moment dinner parties can be fun.
