Brasenose High Table

Sunday 11 May
We are trying to show Andi and Joel all the high points of Oxford, so tonight we took them to Evensong at Brasenose, then to dinner on High Table, followed by the Platnauer concert: contemporary music (and a little Bach) played by Riot Ensemble.  So you could say that music was interspersed with food, or vice versa.

We started with seasonal white and green asparagus, served with a little pan-fried quail's egg and chive butter sauce, accompanied by Petit Chablis Dom Seguinot-Bordet 2009.
Then came chicken legs, otherwise known as "corn-fed poussin two way" with "Baby Charlotte" potatoes (whatever happened to Baby Charlotte?) and seasonal vegetables with chicken jus.  As at Corpus, they still had a red (Palazzone Rosso) even to accompany chicken.

Pudding was pretty lemon fondant on a strawberry biscuit with candied lemon and raspberry coulis.

Dessert wines, Pinot Noir Reserva Los Gansos and Hoopenburg Chenin Blanc 2013, were served in hall after the concert, along with choccies, cheeses, and a buzz of conversation about new music and masked musicians.
