Thursday 9 August
The drive to Jungle Jim's is quite
an excursion for us, but as well as filling our larder with specialties, it gives us
the excuse to stop at Taqueria Mercado on the Dixie Highway for lunch (our nice
server's mom makes the great squeeze-bottle red sauce), and then supplies an
extraordinarily fresh fish for dinner.
This time it was bluefish, which we love but is rare in Ohio. Holt
swears they almost used to give it away in New Haven, but JJ's is pretty good
for this day and age, $2.99/lb.
We roasted it according to the
Anthony Bourdain guidelines, sprinkled it with homemade
rosemary oil, and served with a side of chopped tomatoes and garden arugula. Fresh, crispy, oily goodness.
