Scallops and Coral with Courgettes

Thursday 12 July
Today we drove over to Trets to visit our local Carrefour.  This is a supermarket we grew to like in August 1996, when we were living for the month in Les Ulis outside Paris.  The Trets version is much smaller, but still had some decent fresh food, and we were able to get baked goods and local fruits from stores just across the way.

At dinner, we cooked the loot from our shopping.  Our pigeon house doesn't have much headroom, but we're generally able to put together a meal with whatever comes to hand.  Especially when we've got a glass of local rosé to hand; this Noblesse Sainte Victoire cotes de Provence 2011 came from the cave in Rousset.

With it went (eventually) scallops with their coral, seared in butter and oil, in a sauce started with scallion, then chopped tomatoes, and seasoned with basil, tarragon, and parsley.  On the side were little local zucchini fried with salt and oil.
