Monday 30 December
The joke, like the president, is gone,
thank god, but whenever we do a freeform adaptation of slow-simmered beans, we
call it this.
In this case, the inspiration was
the Schad's hambone, which would be a shame to waste. We added it, plus about a pound each of black
and white northern beans, to the Canadian Tire crockpot. The resultant beans, surprisingly, didn't
look all that different from one another, and came out reddish purple. When it was tender, we added fried green
pepper, onions, and garlic, plus chopped sage leaves and more ham. And you know, it was surprisingly kid
friendly.
