Saturday March 9
Like everyone and everything in
Greece, the American School of Classical Studies is suffering in the current
economy. So tonight our colleague Jack
gave a party to try and raise funds for it.
Guests were greeted by a large
amphora to hold their donations, and the squeeze was not so painful, as we were
given some grape-squeezings to help it down.
There was also an abundant cheese platter, plenty of fruit, and a clever
hors d'oeuvre: endive leaves, each stuffed with either salmon salad or black
bean and corn salad.
It was hearty
enough that we didn't need more dinner before rushing over to CCM to catch the Threepenny Opera; and of course, some
Graeter's afterward kept body and soul together.
