Curried Lentil Soup and Chicken Sandwiches

Friday March 22
We and Vaden spent most of the day goggling at the wonders of the Library of Congress interior and a Civil War Painting show at the Smithsonian American Art Museum/National Portrait Gallery.
When we got home, Ginger renewed our spirits with creative snacks: green and purple (!) endive leaves stuffed with her own take on pimento cheese; black and green colossal olives; and roasted garlic cloves.  Not to mention glasses of Mark West pinot noir 2011.
She had already made a batch of savory curried lentil soup and a tray of baked chicken breasts for sandwiches, so we just waltzed from appetizers into dinner.  There was sourdough bread for the chicken sandwiches, and a refreshing salad featuring slivered tangerine, celery, and avocados.
We had the same dessert as yesterday, and we loved it once again.
Ginger does her thing in the kitchen with grace and serenity, and we are happy to either help or let her go it on her own, as she likes.
