Steak with Pumpkin/Sweet Potato Purée

After all the varied fishes of the past three days, we really needed some hearty red meat, not to mention red wine.  So we grilled a thick strip steak, and opened the amazing bottle that Lauren gave Holt for his birthday: a 1998! Pindar Mythology meritage, from Long Island. 

For the side dish, we got out the half a pie pumpkin and two sweet potatoes we had roasted previously, and mashed them with butter, cream, and nutmeg.  It was nice to give the orange vedge savory flavors, rather than sweet.  (Thanksgiving is coming, and we're sure there will be a sweet sweet potato casserole, if you get our meaning.)
