Sunday 4 August
After a day in the office, we ran
home to make a simple, quick Penne alla Saffi before driving off to an
immensely crowded Washington Park to see LumenoCity.
This was a performance put on to
welcome Louis Langrée as music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra,
and it combined performances by the Orchestra, the Pops, the May Festival Chorus, the Ballet (what could
be seen of it), and a really clever light projection directly onto our historic
Music Hall.
It had architectural and
theatrical fantasies, kaliedoscopes, and silhouetted dancers, and at the end
the balloons projected on the building were echoed by real lit-up balloons
being tossed in the audience. There are
only a few things that qualify as magical, but this was.
