Dinner at Kathy and Russel's

Saturday 30 January
Holt has recovered enough to walk a decent distance, so tonight we went all the way to Russel and Kathy's house, as they had kindly invited us to dinner.  We caught up with each others' recent activities, including one trip to Spain and one to the hospital; you can guess who had which.

When we came to the table, Kathy began her menu with ramekins of coquilles Saint-Jacques, in all their classic, creamy goodness.
She then brought out a beautiful leg of lamb, redolent of garlic and perfectly medium rare, accompanied by a platter of roasted broccoli and carrots.  We laughed and chatted as we ate, and spilled a fair amount of wine, for some reason.

Dessert was Kathy's rich chocolate cake, topped with lashings of just-whipped coffee cream.  We managed to walk back home again after our filling meal and delightful evening; but then, it's always delightful at Kathy and Russel's.
