Primavista

Monday 7 October
We haven't been to Primavista restaurant for a while, so we took today's speaker, Sinclair, there, along with Eleni and Daniel, to enjoy the view and the ambience.
The restaurant was running a special dineItalia menu, which was a bargain at three courses for $30, plus a decent Orvieto for under $30.  That made us able to squeak by the mingy UC limits and still allow each diner more than a single glass of wine over the evening.
Our appetizers were fried cheese ravioli, served with an eggplant and tomato caponata (very old-style Italian, and nothing wrong with that); and potato gnocchi with pancetta, peas and Reggiano.
Then came salads: a Caesar with extra anchovies (which helped cut the blandness), and arugula salad with balsamic glaze, gorgonzola, cute little dried figs, and toasted walnuts.
On to the main courses.  The cioppino was two kinds of fresh fish, mussels, shrimp and calamari in (not spicy enough) tomato broth.  The other was sautéed veal medallions (read: chunks) with assorted mushrooms in a white truffle oil cream sauce.
We were happy to go back to Primavista's friendly service, good food, and incomparable view.
