Saturday 28 September
Even though it's the weekend of
CliftonFest and she's crazy busy, as Sharon had two nice out-of-town relatives
(Marion and Mike) over to visit, she also invited Ken, Gus, and us over to meet them
and enjoy a last-of-summer barbeque.
As Mike tossed the giant sides of
fish on the grill, the rest of us got going with wine and snacks of root
vegetable chips, hummus, spicy tomato dip, and lusciously runny brie.
Then Sharon herded us to our seats
out on the light-garlanded back porch.
She handed around an huge antipasto platter of salami, pepperoni,
olives, pickled vegetables, artichokes, mozzarella, parmesan, lettuce, and a
bunch of other things I probably didn't find in there.
Then the main course: giant
grilled filets of salmon and mahi-mahi, well seasoned and savory, served with a rice
pilaf.
As for dessert, Holt made and brought his
crustless pear tart Lorraine (adapted from the apple version of Best of Baking), and we had it with half-gallons of Graeter's finest black cherry chip and
chocolate chocolate chip.
Thanks so much, Sharon, for the
fine food and delightful party!
