Otto's in Covington

Friday 8 November
We took tonight's speaker Clayton, plus Moshe and Steven, across the river to Otto's for a post-lecture dinner.

Main Street was really hopping in this beautiful weather, and people were enjoying the lights and the various nightspots so much that Barbara had to park across - or pretty much under - the tracks.
Having gotten our guests a much-deserved cocktail, we ordered a bottle or two of fairly decent red - Cartlidge & Browne Lot 205 Petite Sirah, California.  Otto's wines have just a double markup, and there are even half-price-wine nights, so it's a much better bargain than La Poste, for example.
Then we started on salads: our favored fried green tomato caprese (good even out of season), and roast beet and arugula with goat cheese, apples, and toasted pecans.
For mains, we chose a nicely-roasted duck breast, served with a puddinglike risotto studded with tidbits of ham and things, accompanied by browned brussels sprouts and bacon; and juicy Bourbon-glazed pork medallions, served with very tasty hot slaw and sweet potatoes.
Otto's is a pleasant, chicken-themed, place.  I wonder why their menu doesn't feature the simple roasted bird itself?
