Venison Chili and Cornbread

Our old friend Diane just took a job back here in Cincinnati, though she's going to have to commute back and forth to Washington DC.  We feel for her, especially after her long drive up here with all her stuff in the car, so it was a pleasure to have her over for dinner on her first night here.
We made up a batch of venison chili in the slow cooker, and Holt put together a cornbread with red bell pepper, pretty much exactly as here.
While we waited for the cornbread to bake, we snacked on the same taramasalata, goat cheese spread, pita, crackers, and olives as yesterday.  Still good, too.
