Exceptionally, our local Kroger's
had boxes of baby artichokes, of the sort that we usually have to drive to Hyde
Park to buy.
We didn't want to do our usual
Greek-style stew, so we just boiled and fried the trimmed artichokes, like this.
After that, we marinated some cod
pieces (no, not Elizabethan male posturing, TJ's frozen best) in lemon and oil and salt, and fried them up quickly
in the oil from the artichokes. This was
a mistake, as cod tends to be tough, and that made it tougher. Next time, we should simmer it slowly, with
tomatoes or something.
